How to Throw a US Open Tennis Viewing Party

How to Throw a US Open Tennis Viewing Party

The US Open is a celebration of excellence in tennis and effortless style. See how to celebrate even if you can’t make it to NYC.

Jun. 27, 2024

The US Open has been the United States’ premier tennis tournament for decades, and the fourth and final part of the Grand Slam since 1987. Dedicated to serving excellence ourselves, GREY GOOSE® is proud to continue as a sponsor for the 18th consecutive year. We love being able to toast to those at the top of their game with excellent vodka to match.

While the games are held in Flushing Meadows in New York City, there are plenty of ways for you to celebrate from home. Here are some ideas for throwing a US Open tennis viewing party.

Step 1: Highlight the Right Game

Because the US Open is a tournament, it’s a two-week long ordeal. That’s a big plus to you as the party host for extra flexibility. Obviously it makes sense to watch one of the higher-profile matches, like the semi-finals or finals, but if that doesn’t work with your schedule, you could find a different one at the time of your choosing.

Then just make sure you have a good cable or internet connection, a TV large enough to gather people around and plenty of seating. To accommodate extra guests you could even offer some foldable bleacher seats or other sports chairs for additional options that still fit the theme.

Step 2: Dress and Decorate Like a Champ

The US Open has always been about fashion, too. Show off your effortless style with some classic, casual looks that bring together the very best of American athletic dress and timeless fashion. You can decorate your space in style, too, with a nod and a wink to tennis. With tennis balls, turf and rackets, there are plenty of themes to take inspiration from. A green and yellow colour scheme is especially fitting. Keep it simple, keep it preppy, keep it clever.

Step 3: Serve the Signature Honey Deuce™ Cocktail

The Honey Deuce™ is THE drink of the US Open. In 2006, we tasked restaurateur Nick Mautone with the challenge of creating a signature vodka drink that would be unique and eye-catching yet simple. We wanted something memorable and special that wouldn’t keep people waiting in the bar line in the stadium.

Thus the iconic pink drink was born. It’s a mixture of Grey Goose Vodka, premium raspberry liqueur and lemonade, plus honeydew melon balls (that delightfully resemble tennis balls) as garnish.

They’re simple to make at home. You can make your own individual drink on the rocks, make a batch as a jug or even try making the new frozen iteration.

The US Open is the perfect opportunity to connect with friends at your very own effortlessly stylish get-together. With these tips, you can throw a great viewing party and maybe start a new tradition of your own.
