5 Tips for Simple Batch Vodka Cocktails at Home

5 Tips for Simple Batch Vodka Cocktails at Home

Having friends over and want to avoid some of the stress of entertaining? These five tips for simple batch cocktails can keep prep times low, so you have more time for conversation.

1. Fresh Ingredients Are Best

If you’re making batch cocktails for a group, it’s best to hold off adding fruit juice or mixer until the day of consumption. Bubbles, in particular, should be added as the finishing touch — no one likes a flat cocktail!

2. Avoid Dairy and Eggs

While dairy and eggs are staples in cocktails such as the White Russian and many sours, they can separate over time. Lighter ingredients such as fruit juice or soda water are more likely to stand the test of time and make for a fresh-tasting cocktail.

3. Ice Matters for More Than One Reason

Ice not only cools off your cocktails, it serves as a diluent to create a more balanced taste. When making cocktails for a group, simply add a splash of water to your pre-mix and keep chilled in the fridge until it’s time to drink.

4. Go For the Garnish

Garnishes are a great way to elevate your cocktails and can quickly transform simple serves into summer showstoppers. Pre-sliced citrus fruits such as lemon, lime and grapefruits are easy to prepare and can simply be thrown in a zip lock pouch ready to add at the last minute.

Seasonal fruits, such as berries, are also great for adding a touch of summer sweetness. A sprig of homegrown mint or rosemary not only tastes great, but will impress your friends too.

5. Behold, the Bitters

The vodka soda is a classic, simple-to-make vodka cocktail. But sometimes you’re looking for a little something extra. Add an exciting, new flavour profile with a couple of dashes of bitters.

Be sure to prepare for all of your gatherings by picking the perfect cocktail to make at home and purchasing Grey Goose Vodka before your guests arrive.
